Walks and Things to do in Godalming

Gorgeous Godalming

Nestled in the heart of the countryside, The Ragged Robin is blooming with charm. Our rooms are the perfect blend of style and comfort – whether you’re unwinding in a roll-top bath, sipping wine in our blissful revamped garden, or catching the morning mist rise over the River Wey with a fresh coffee in hand, we can promise you a stay that’s truly special. With dog-friendly room options available, as well as a dedicated dog menu with our partner’s Sir Woofchester’s, everyone can enjoy the beauty of the picturesque countryside and local charm of our local area.

Once you’ve had your beauty sleep, take the riverside path from our back garden into the charming town of Godalming. Or if you’re feeling brave, take the plunge with Roar Outdoor, who offers paddleboarding just a few minutes walk away from our pub. Doesn’t float your boat? Our neighbours at Farncombe Boat House will have you cruising in no time, with docking and charging available at our back door.

Fancy a Ramble?

Spend your afternoon rambling through rolling green valleys and vibrant forests on one of our spectacular local walking trails. From the nearby Hascombe Trees and Timber walk that weaves its way through several areas of diverse woodland and a stretch of the breathtaking Greensand Way, to the Chilworth Circular that winds through the idyllic Tillingbourne River valley.

Is a gentler adventure calling to you? Soak up the vibrant colours of Winkworth Arboretum, or wander the internationally renowned Grade 2* listed five-acre Vann Garden that’s bursting with charm and character. Both just 15 minutes by car, or local bus service – perfect for all explorers.

If that wasn’t enough for you nature lovers, the nearby Rodborough Common – just ten minutes by car – provides even more opportunities to spot a beautiful array of British wildlife. Watch iconic and illusive waxwings soar high above swathes of Heathland, or try to spot rare Silver-studded blue butterflies amongst the grassland. The equally tranquil Thursley National Nature Reserve, complete with boardwalk trails and bird-watching huts.

Whether you’re staying the night in one of our luxurious bedrooms or simply strolling off your Sunday roast (with bottomless roasties, of course), there are so many ways to immerse yourself in nature in gorgeous Godalming.
